Blue Duck Brewing brings a fresh pulse to Kingston with a father-son team, a state-of-the-art brewhouse, and a strong commitment to local sourcing. Led by brewmaster Ryan Gillette—whose path runs from early days at Keegan Ales to formal training in Chicago and Munich, and stints at New Belgium, Trillium, and Threes—the brewery leans into crisp, traditional German styles made entirely with New York–grown ingredients. Their custom 15-barrel system will fuel 13 taplines of house beers, collaborations, draft cocktails, and local cider, all served across a striking bar built from a red oak tree felled on the family’s Grahamsville property.

Inside the former Daily Freeman building, Phoenicia Diner steps in with its new Canteen concept, blending diner classics with pub-friendly comfort—smash burgers, beer-battered onion rings, “crushable” snacks, and the beloved reuben, plus weekend brunch featuring their famous pancakes. With online ordering, a full bar showcasing New York craft spirits, and both indoor and outdoor seating, the space is designed for everyday ease as much as weekend crowds.

Rooted in community and collaboration, Blue Duck aims to be a hub for Kingston—steps from the rail trail, primed for events, and built on shared values of locality and craft. With a brewing philosophy grounded in tradition, a food partner beloved across the region, and plans for everything from weekday burgers to Oktoberfest, it launches with all the ingredients of a place that will quickly feel essential.
