About Suarez Family Brewery
Suarez Family Brewery is a true mom-and-pop operation tucked into a former 1930s lamp factory along Route 9 in Livingston, New York—technically the middle of nowhere, but geographically, within the bounds of Hudson, NY. Brewer-owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Dan Suarez and Taylor Cocalis, the brewery has become one of the most respected small producers in the country, known for “crispy little beers” that favor nuance over noise. Expect unfiltered lagers like Palatine Pils, easygoing pale ales such as Crispy Little, and mixed-fermentation country beers that lean into local fruit, herbs, and subtle oak. The focus is on moderate-alcohol, highly drinkable beers that feel as good as they taste—Suarez is almost obsessive about texture, balance, and a clean, refreshing finish.
With its new taproom, Suarez says the space is where "old-world soul meets hacienda warmth, crafted to feel timeless, communal, and alive. Just like the beer." On tap is a tight selection of draft and cask beers—think pilsner, pale ale, smoked lager, and an old ale on cask—alongside a small bottle list of mixed-culture country beers conditioned with cherries, crab apples, and other seasonal fruit. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome on the outdoor patio and lawn, and in addition to a small curated selection of snacks, guests are encouraged to bring their own food or time their visit with an occasional food pop-up.
The bottle shop keeps the same hours as the taproom, so you can stock up on beer to go after a tasting. With its sun-drenched interior and gentle hum of families, locals, and beer pilgrims often from further afield, Suarez Family Brewery feels less like a stop on a beer trail and more like a small, intentional world of its own—one built around family, craft, and a deep love of beautifully made lager and farmhouse-style ales.
