About Little Goat

Little Goat in Rhinebeck, NY, stands out as an all-day café, bakery, and lifestyle destination set within an 18th-century townhouse on the town’s Main Street. Founded by Taavo Somer, noted for projects like INNESS in Stone Ridge, both Lola Pizza and Hotel Kinsley in Kingston, and popular urban retreats Ray's and Freemans in NYC, this location offers a mix of historical architecture and Hudson Valley character. The design, inspired by Nancy Meyers and Impressionist art, combines soft creams and artisanal decor to create an inviting, residential feel, aimed at being a community hub.

The creative menu, orchestrated by Chef Brian Paragas, is renowned for its use of local Hudson Valley ingredients. Guests can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as Calabrian chili flatbreads and Hudson Valley steelhead trout, providing diverse options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also notable is the emphasis on local artisanal goods and pantry items, including cheeses from Talbott & Arding, balsamic vinegar from Flamingo Estate, and bread from Sparrowbush Bakery. Little Goat curates a unique blend of dining, shopping, and community engagement that encourages visitors to linger and explore repeatedly.

The interior space contributes to its distinct atmosphere with floral designs by acclaimed florist Ariel Dearie and lighting by Nickey Kehoe. The space feels like stepping into an Impressionist painting, brought to life with an ambient glow and thoughtfully arranged art pieces. The design choices, influenced by Somer's own experiences and his desire to create a familial space for his daughters, make it a warm environment for all visitors. The addition of thoughtfully sourced French ceramics and curated art offers both aesthetic enjoyment and a sense of place steeped in local and artistic history.
