Café Mutsi
Café Mutsi is an all-day café and wine bar in the heart of Andes, New York, inspired by the local bounty of the Catskills and infused with a touch of Nordic warmth. The name “Mutsi,” Finnish slang for “mother,” embodies the spirit of the café—nurturing, welcoming, and filled with character. Opened in the spring of 2024, Café Mutsi quickly became a community favorite, offering a space where locals and visitors alike can gather to enjoy freshly baked breads and pastries, seasonal dishes, and thoughtfully curated natural wines.
Rooted in family tradition and regional collaboration, Café Mutsi’s menu is ever-evolving, reflecting the rhythm of the seasons and the abundance of its neighboring farms. Many recipes draw from co-founders Nicole and Raoul’s family heritage—like breads adapted from Nicole’s grandmother’s handwritten notes and harissa made from Raoul’s mother’s secret recipe—reimagined with Upstate ingredients. The kitchen cures its own gravlax with local gin, bakes rye bread daily, and pickles fresh produce sourced from nearby purveyors like Black Willow Pond Farm, Rock Royal Farm, and Evans and Evans.
By day, Café Mutsi hums with the scent of espresso and warm pastries; by night, it transforms into a cozy wine bar on select Fridays, offering small plates and shared dishes that pair perfectly with natural wines and local spirits. Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a glass of wine on the porch as the sun sets over Andes, Café Mutsi invites you to slow down, savor, and feel at home.
The Andes Hotel
The Andes Hotel, established in the 1850s, is a historic gem in the heart of the Catskills that seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern comforts. Following an extensive two-year renovation—captured on In With the Old (Magnolia Network, HBO Max, Discovery+)—the hotel now features a refreshed design aesthetic while preserving its deep roots in the local community. With ten beautifully redesigned guest rooms, a full-service bar, and lush landscaped gardens, it offers a welcoming retreat for both locals and visitors year-round.
Culinary experiences are a cornerstone of the Andes Hotel, from seasonal dishes crafted by Chef Lon to lively events like Hot Pot Night, Taco Tuesday, and guest chef dinners. The outdoor bar and alfresco dining area come alive in warmer months, while the hotel’s calendar is packed with live music, curated feasts, firework displays, karaoke, and private events throughout the year. Whether you're enjoying summer kayaking, fall foliage hikes, or winter nights by the fire with a drink in hand, the Andes Hotel offers a cozy and vibrant Catskills experience in every season.

Wayside Cider
Wayside Cider is tucked just off Main Street in Andes, where two lovingly restored barns have been transformed into one of the Catskills’ most inviting gathering places. Here, small-batch ciders made from Hudson Valley apples are poured just steps from where they’re pressed, alongside a thoughtful selection of New York–made beer, wine, and spirits. The atmosphere is equal parts rustic and playful: picnic tables strung with twinkle lights, banjo music drifting through the air, and a steady hum of conversation that stretches easily from afternoon into evening.
Designed by Sean Scherer, the tap room channels the warmth of a European cider tavern with a distinctly Catskills sensibility. Antique ephemera, handmade fixtures, and local craftsmanship give the space a layered, lived-in feel, while floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto a courtyard with fire pits and long communal tables. Upstairs, a cozy loft expands the experience with a dining hall, music venue, shuffleboard, darts, and board games—making it as appealing in the depths of winter as it is on long summer nights.
The ciders themselves lean dry and expressive, from the bright, effervescent Skinny Dip to fuller-bodied offerings with hints of oak and bourbon. Bar snacks and simple farm-forward plates round things out, reinforcing Wayside’s role as a place to linger rather than rush. More than a tap room, Wayside Cider functions as a social hub—an easygoing crossroads for locals and visitors alike, where good drinks, good food, and community naturally come together.
