Hy's Fried
Situated just outside Catamount Mountain Resort, Hy’s Fried in South Egremont, Massachusetts has quickly become a standout roadside destination, known for its crispy, golden gluten-free fried chicken. What began as a modest renovation project now draws a steady crowd for its elevated take on comfort food, with generous sides like potato salad with whole baby potatoes and charred cauliflower. The space itself is part of the appeal, with a bold, slightly surreal aesthetic that nods to Twin Peaks through its red-painted interiors and checkered floors.
Beyond the food, Hy’s transforms into a lively cultural hub, hosting vinyl-only DJ nights that attract a mix of locals, visitors, and occasional high-profile guests. Outfitted with custom speakers from Jon Bless Hi-Fi, the sound experience is as considered as the menu, creating an atmosphere that feels equal parts dance party and community gathering. With no cover charge and an open invitation to the dance floor, Hy’s balances great food with a spirit of spontaneity and creative energy.

Prospect Berkshires
Prospect is a modern-day retreat rooted in a century-old tradition of gathering in the Berkshires. Once a beloved picnic ground that opened in 1876, the land has long welcomed those seeking community, connection, and communion with nature. Today, Prospect carries forward that legacy with lakeside cabins, forested trails, and a deep commitment to philoxenia—the ancient Greek spirit of hospitality that treats every guest as a friend. Inspired by the transcendentalist values of self-reliance, simplicity, and immersion in the natural world, Prospect invites guests to slow down and experience renewal through stillness, movement, and shared moments.
At the heart of Prospect is The Cliff House, a lakeside restaurant run by the renowned Mezze Hospitality Group. With sweeping views of Prospect Lake, The Cliff House offers a fresh, seasonal menu inspired by local farms and crafted for connection—serving full-service breakfast on weekends, aperitivo and snacks in the evening, and thoughtfully prepared dinners that reflect the rhythms of the region.
Beyond the table, Prospect offers an abundance of ways to reconnect. Swim or lounge at the outdoor saltwater pool, enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna experience in the Pool House or along the lake’s edge, or explore the water with paddle boards, rowboats, and seasonal ice skating. Engage in a friendly match of tennis or pickleball, wander through quiet forest trails, or simply gather around a crackling fire. Whether you're basking in the sun, sipping tea after a sauna, or watching the lake shimmer at dusk, Prospect is a place where time slows and presence deepens.
